Day 1: Saturday, 28 April JOHANNESBURG – TEL AVIV
Meet at the El Al Airlines check-in counter in the International Departures Hall of the Johannesburg’s O.R.Tambo International Airport at 18:00. Departure is at 21:35 with El Al for Tel Aviv. Overnight on BOARD (D*)

 

Day 2: Sunday, 29 April  CAESAREA – MEGIDDO – MT CARMEL – GALILEE
Touch-down at the Ben Gurion airport is at 07:40. Meet your guide upon arrival where our coach is ready for departure. In Caesarea we visit the impressive Roman amphitheatre. Visit Megiddo (Armageddon) with its history of wars and bloodshed. Continue to Mount Carmel where Elijah had the confrontation with  the Baal-priests. Continue for dinner and overnight at our seashore-hotel in TIBERIAS (B)(D)


Day 3: Monday, 30 April NAZARETH – GALILEE
Start the day with by driving via Cana where Jesus' first miracle took place to Nazareth for a visit to the “Nazareth Village” where you will be taken back to the times of Jesus. Return to the Sea of Galilee for a visit the so called “Jesus boat” museum. Enjoy a cruise on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum. Travel to the Mount of Beatitudes and visit the Church of Beatitudes and Tabga, where the multiplication of the bread and fish took place. Continue to Mensa Christi.

Day 4: Tuesday, 01 May JERICHO – BETHLEHEM – JERUSALEM
This morning we continue South for a visit to Jericho, the oldest known city in the world, once destroyed by Joshua. The cable-way takes us to the Mount of Temptation with a magnificent view of Jericho, Mount Nebo and the Jordan River. Drive via the baptismal site of Qasr al-Yahud or Betabara where Jesus was Baptised. Continue to Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus and of King David. See the shepherds' fields before a visit to the "Birth Church", seen as one of the oldest in history. It is built on the cave where it is believed Jesus was born. You have time for shopping at a large Curio shop where Olive-woodcarvings are very popular. Our destination is Jerusalem, also known as the “City of Peace”. Dinner and overnight JERUSALEM (B)(D)


Day 5: Wednesday, 02 May JERUSALEM
Start our visit in Jerusalem with a visit to the Mount of Olives from where Christ sent his disciples to get the donkey on which He rode into Jerusalem. From the summit one has a wonderful view of the old city of Jerusalem and the temple area. Spend some time in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed and Judas betrayed Him. The Church of All Nations is in this garden and Olive trees still grow here. Next we’ll visit the house of Kajafas, also known as St. Peter in Gallicantu. It is here that Peter denied Christ three times. Gallicantu means "the crowing of the cock". Continue to the Old City of Jerusalem for a visit to the Wailing Wall. A tour of the Western Wall Tunnels is part of the programme. End our day at David's Tomb and the Upper Room where the Last Supper was held. Dinner and overnight in JERUSALEM (B)(D)


Day 6: Thursday, 03 May JERUSALEM
Our day begins at the Pool of Bethesda and the church of St Anne. Walk to the house of Antonio where Jesus' hearing was held. Follow the 14 stations of the "Via Dolorosa" to the traditional Golgotha and tomb in the Holy Sepulchre. See the Dome of the Rock, built over the place where Abraham had to sacrifice Isaac (entrance optional). Visit the Model of the City of Jerusalem which is located at the Israeli Museum. Visit the Shrine of the Book, a building resembling the top of the large jars in which the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. The city of David is next on our programme. See the pool of Siloam with opportunity to walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel. In the Jewish quarter of the Old City we visit the Burnt house which was destroyed in 70AD. Nearby is the remains of a Roman Road and first century shops known as the Cardo. Dinner and overnight in JERUSALEM (B)(D


Day 7: Friday, 04 May JERUSALEM – QUMRAN – EILAT
A visit to the Garden Tomb is our first stop this morning. A Christian Embassy guide will assist in a tour of the grounds which has a beautiful view of Golgotha, also known as Gordon's Calvary. Holy Communion will be served in the grounds of the Garden Tomb. We journey towards the South of Israel along the shores of the Dead Sea. Stop at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Continue our journey to the Red Sea where we’kll enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Red Sea. Dinner and overnight in EILAT (B)(D)


Day 8: Saturday, 05 May EILAT – TIMNA PARK – DEAD SEA
Visit this morning to the “Underwater Observatory” to experience the world under the Red Sea. Continue to Timna National Park and the “Tabernacle in the Wilderness”. Continue to the Dead Sea where we have time to float on its salty waters. This sea is formed by the waters of the River Jordan and several smaller streams entering it, but has no exit. The waters contain billions of tons of valuable chemicals. The water is five times saltier than the ocean. Unique healing qualities are found in the mud along the shore. In the Bible it was known as the “Salt Sea”. Dinner and overnight at the DEAD SEA (B)(D)


Day 9: Sunday, 06 May DEAD SEA – MASADA – JAFFA – TEL AVIV
After a leisurely morning at our hotel, we drive to Masada. Ascend the mountain by means of a cable car to view the remains of the once luxury palace of Herod the Great. It is in this place that Eleazer Ben Yair and his 959 Jewish followers committed mass-suicide, rather than surrender to the Roman legion which they kept at bay for three years. Your view of the desert of Judea is out of this world. Drive to Tel Aviv. Visit the ancient city of Jaffa where the house of Simon the Tanner can still be seen today. It is from here that Jonah tried to sail to Tarshish and where Dorcas was restored back to life. Enjoy a farewell dinner before proceeding to the airport for the return flight to Johannesburg departing after midnight at 01:10. Overnight on BOARD (B)(D)


Day 10: Monday, 07 May JOHANNESBURG
Touchdown at Johannesburg’s O.R.Tambo International Airport is at 09:30 (B*)
